SQLSaturday 192 Recap.

I have a great time in SQLSaturday192 in Tampa,Fl. this was my second time visiting there are not words that can describe how welcome I did feel, they really know how to be great hostess.
This year the pre-dinner party was in the Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurant the service was excellent and the food was delicious and there I started a conversation with Buck Woody from Microsoft and I got nothing but high marks in his knowledge and most of all humility the conversation was very pleasant and hopefully I will have a chance to meet him again, then I met Jessica Mos, she has a very pleasant personality and just like Buck Woody she has a vast knowledge of BI. In a few words I did felt very humble and lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful people...Too all of you Thank you.
The session was very successful and it has giving me the motivation to start building better prototypes and start to shared that on line for everyone. My next question would be can we do the same thing for reporting services and any other Microsoft Product? I guess the answer is yes, but, seeming is believing and I have a lot of work to do.

The Parsing Challenge

I'm bored to death @ work and I decided to build a new application to proved a point.Normally the process of parsing a particular file is nothing more than take the file and loaded to a table while transforming the proper data type. Currently this is done via UDF and this application was build under a SQL2000 mentality which always required constant maintenance and the team has growth from 2 to 4 people management doesn't want to do anything because if is not broke don't fixed, however, there is always a fired to fixed. Now we are upgrading those packages from 2005 to 2012 but nothing is been replace or fixed its only an upgrade, so if you driving a buggy and put the engine in a corvette guess what still nothing more than a buggy with are better look. I have try over the years to chance this process but I can't go against the status quote, so, as a way to leave my frustrations behind I'm going to build this new solution and shared it with the world.Hopefully some poor soul will find this useful.
